How do I add a beneficiary's entitlement?
A step by step guide on how to add a beneficiary's entitlement
- Go to the People & beneficiaries section

- Click Add person or Add organisation

- When selecting the role of beneficiary for a person or organisation a section for Entitlement will appear

- This section is not mandatory and can be left blank
- If the user decides to enter information, they can choose to add Residuary, Pecuniary, Specific Gift entitlements or a combination of the three.
💁Only one Residuary type can be applied to all beneficiaries on a case
⭐If a Residuary type is selected and then a user attempts to select a different type for another beneficiary, an error message will appear
👌If a beneficiary is designated as the Sole residuary beneficiary, the residuary entitlement section will not be available for any other beneficiaries
- For Residuary, select the type
-
- If Percentage is chosen, the user can then add in the percentage value
- If Share is chosen, the user can then add in the share value
- If Equal is chosen, no further information is needed
- If Sole is chosen, no further information is needed

- For Pecuniary, add the total value due to the beneficiary

- For Specific Gifts, select an asset from the dropdown menu.

🎁 Only assets which are valid for IHT and are not passing automatically to joint surviving owners will be displayed in this list
📈 If the value of the selected asset changes, the value in the distribution will automatically change as well
🔒 Once a proposed specific gift is marked as distributed, the related asset will no longer be available for selection in the entitlement dropdown
- Click Save person

⚠️ If you choose not to add entitlements, please be aware when adding a final distribution that you will not be able to auto calculate the distribution based on entitlements
