Client Cash Account Explained

This guide explains what transactions the client cash account shows.

Where is the client cash account?

To access the client cash account:

  • Click Estate accounts on the left hand side menu within Estate overview 
  • Click on Client cash account on the left hand side menu within Estate accounts 
  • You will now be looking at the client cash account



 

What the client cash account reflects

  • Money ingathered from assets which has been paid in to the client cash account
  • Expenses paid from the client cash account after date of death
  • Income in to the estate after date of death paid in to the client cash account
  • Cash distributions paid out to beneficiaries 

What the client cash account shows

From left to right: 

  • Date of transaction: dependent on the date you enter 
  • Category: An overarching description of what the payment relates to
  • Provider or asset description: A granular description of that payment
  • Type of income: If this is an income, it will state the type of income you entered
  • Receipt: The amount of any money paid in
  • Payment: The amount of any money paid out
  • Client cash account balance: A running total of the balance of your client cash account 

At the bottom:

  • Running total of receipts 
  • Running total of payments 

➖ The client cash account will allow you to go in to a negative balance if you need to record expenses and distributions before money is ingathered 

⚖️ Once all transactions are entered and the estate is complete, the client cash account should balance to zero
